9/6/2010–Hope everyone has had a good Labor Day weekend. I was a bit tired for Sunday’s show but I made it through ok. Many thanks to Annie Johnson and Jon Singleton for coming on the show…they were awesome..they will be performing at the Acoustic Music Festival, Sept. 18th, in Town Point Park. We have such a great line up this year. It’s always good when you can present new, great artists that people have not heard of. Hope you’ll come down and explore just what’s going on here in the area as regards to acoustic music.

The Plane landed Safely

8/25/2010—Thankfully the show went well last Sunday and we were able to post it On-Demand on the website. Everything is returning back to normal and we can concentrate on the Acoustic Music Festival on Sept. 18th. I think everyone who comes to the festival this year will appreciate the intimacy of the music. Paul Shugrue, Barry Graham and myself will be broadcasting live from the festival on Out of the Box …we’re going to have live guests and everything. Hunter At Sunrise this Sunday…

8/18/2010–Ok, last Sunday was not the radio show’s greatest day. We had problems with HunterAtSunrise.com and we were also unable to post the show On-Demand…but I am stubborn and determined, we will have things fixed for this coming Sunday. So I hope you will tune in…we will be featuring some of the artists who will be playing the Acoustic Music Festival on Sept. 18th…it’s only a month away…the greatest free event in Hampton Roads. Hope you’ll listen this Sunday…

8/9/2010–Yes, it’s true…Hunter At Sunrise will be returning this Sunday to WHRV HD3 Ntenna and HunterAtSunrise.com. Must say I have been getting antsy on Sundays and I am tired of listening to archived shows. So we’ll be live at 7am and I hope to have some live interviews leading up to the Acoustic Music Festival in Town Point Park on Sept. 18th. You can find a complete schedule for the Festival here on the home page. It’s time for some more morning music on Sunday…hope you will tune in.

Hunter At Sunrise on Hiatus

7/9/2010 — I know this is a bother to many of my listeners that the show is on hiatus. I must tell you I miss doing it. But I am trying to stay current with the new music coming out and with hunteratsunrise.com. For those of you who have comments about the show going away for awhile, feel free to email me and I will pass your views on to WHRV. While the show is not on the air, I will be listening every week to new music to stay up with what’s going on. And I have updated the Sunrise Calendar which now goes into 2011..stand by, the Sandler Center is getting ready to announce it’s schedule.

Some Thoughts on Sunday’s Final Show…

6/24/2010–I am not planning anything unusual for this last show before Hunter At Sunrise goes on hiatus. I am hoping national recording artist, Kevin Welch, can come on the show for a session. I think it is time that I look very seriously at where the show is going. I am very proud of the fact that we have successfully built an audience on digital radio (despite the fact that not many people have them) and the internet. But it is time to look into streamlining the production of Hunter At Sunrise and explore alternative ways of funding. I do know the days of driving into the station at 5am and doing the show without any compensation are over. On the public radio stations here, every show that is aired is somehow paid for except for mine.
This will have to change somehow. During this break, please know that I will miss providing the mix every Sunday…I plan to keep up with the new music releases during the interim. I will be sending out a message on Facebook when the show is ready to come back…in the meantime, I hope everyone will continue to listen to the show On-Demand. I feel I must apologize for the on again off again nature of Hunter At Sunrise…it is a shame that radio has to be this way.

Sorry, No Playlist…

6/14/2010–I apologize there is no playlist for the Sunday 6/13 show…seems our computer chose the day to shut down our link to the internet and there was no way to compose one.
On another note, thanks to Skye Zentz and Mercy Creek for a great show at the Listening Room Sunday evening….the series is almost over and has been a rousing success…hopefully the city of Norfolk will continue to do programs such as this inside Waterside..the place needs to return to a center of recreation and commerce for the city.
Hope everyone will come down for Lewis McGehee this Sunday and then for the finale party with Bobby Blackhat Walters on the 27th…

Things are Better…

6/1/2010–Well, the spring is winding down and the summer is ready to begin…I am finally feeling better..Sunday, a week ago, I was working with some kind of virus…it was awful, but this past Sunday I was feeling better.. The beat goes on at the Waterside Listening Room, Julie Clark and Seth Stainback (who will be on my show this week) played to a capacity crowd there this past Sunday. We have just four shows left starting with the Jae Sinnett Trio this Sunday. It has been so great to see the incredible support for this series…I think the success of it has caused the city of Norfolk to pause and assess just what they are going to do at the Waterside. Thanks to everyone who have come out for these shows and if you haven’t already visited…make sure you catch at least one of the last 4 shows.

We’re in the Middle of a Truly Great Series…

5/11/2010–It was just too cool to have Randall Bramblett at the Listening Room last Sunday..you can see a clip on our home page..We’re approaching the middle of our live series and I am just so thankful for this space we are filling with music, even if it is only for a short time. This week John Toomey will bring some fine jazz to the Listening Room. I am so appreciative to Festevents and Emagine Events for giving me the opportunity to bringing all of this great music to such an incredible space…and to have it on Sunday is just the best situation. I hope everyone who listens to my show has a chance to experience it.

As for Hunter At Sunrise, we are in the midst of a good spate of new music. It adds so much to the presentation when you have so many cool discs to feature. If you have any suggestions…something you think I am missing…feel free to email me…I am always open to new things…

Things are Really Hopping Right Now…

5/4/10–Another busy weekend at the Waterside Listening Room last Sunday as Susan Greenbaum from Richmond put on a stirring show for a very attentive audience. You can check out a clip on our home page. Randall Bramblett will be at the Room this Sunday…he’s touring behind his latest cd, In the Meantime. I just added a number of shows to the Sunrise Concert Calendar including new shows at Ntelos Pavillion with Willie Nelson and Counting Crows..so you may want to check that out.
