Yes, it is time for the Sea Level Singer Songwriter Festival, April 4-6...and we're having a veritable cornucopia of talent on our show this Sunday morning.  briakelly

First of all and for the first time ever, Lewis McGehee and Karl Werne perform together on our show. Both will be talking about their long time association with the festival and what they are doing at this year's event.

gatpicThen Smithfield's Bria Kelly (you may remember her from America's Got Talent) and Grant Austin Taylor (he's just back from the Grammys) pay us a visit to sing some songs. They will be opening up for the festival kickoff's headliner, Glen Phillips of Toad The Wet Sprocket at the Naro on April 4th.  

So to say we're going to have a busy show is an understatement. Hope you'll tune in this Sunday morning.

Soul Haven Showcase Artists visit Hunter At Sunrise This Sunday

raymeeksThree artists involved in the Soul Haven Studios Showcase at the Sea Level Singerbphelps Songwriter Festival will be our guests this Sunday.  Ben Phelps returns to Hunter At Sunrise and Ray Meeks and BJ Griffin make their first appearances on the show.  We'll be talking about the Soul Haven Showcase happening April 5th from 10pm-12:30am at the Jewish Mother Backstage in Norfolk. bjgriffinThey will be part of an In The Round with Seth Stainback, Jesse Chong, Luke Taylor, Elizabeth Nix, and Swabir Silayi. Hunter At Sunrise Supports the Acoustic Blues Festival This Weekend

maryflowerHope you will come out this Saturday to Thomas Nelson Community College from 4 pm to 9:30 pm for the Hampton Acoustic Blues Festival presented by the Natchel' Blues Network.  In its 12th year, the festival is once again welcoming a fine array of acoustic artists.  Headlining is blues singer and guitarist, Mary Flower, on a bill that includes The Piedmont Acoustic Blues Duo, Shawn Strickland, and Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton.  There's also a slide guiar workshop with Larry Berwald. James Lee Stanley Returns to Hunter At Sunrise

The last time James Lee Stanley was on our show, he was touring with Cliff Eberhardt behind their collaboration, All Wood and Doors. Now he is in town for a solo show at the Oberndorf Central Library in Va Beach Saturday night as part of the Tidewater Friends of Folk Music concert series. He will be joining us Sunday morning for another live Acoustic Session. I understand he has joined back up with John Batdorf (of Batdorf and Rodney fame), and they are about to release a new All Wood and Stones disc.  We'll be talking to him about that and whatever else he's been doing out on the west coast where he lives now.  For more about James Lee Stanley, click HERE. 

Logan Vath Makes the Long Journey back to Hunter At Sunrise This Sunday Morning

The last time Logan Vath was on our show it was February, 2013 and hardly anyone knew who he was.  Now, after producing an album, winning a few local music awards, and beginning work on a second album, Logan returns to Hunter at Sunrise. Oh, did I mention he is opening for Shawn Colvin next Thursday at the Sea Level Singer-Songwriter Festival at the Naro Theatre. Yes, that's right, Logan Vath has never been on our show before...but he will be this Sunday morning. A relative newcomer to the area, Vath has already caught the attention of the local music community. He was nominated for a couple of Veer local music awards and actually won one, taking the best busker prize at the Veer show on Feb. 12th.
